Downloadable E-Audiobooks

July 2, 2009

Did you know that you can now check out audio books online and download them to your computer?

Here’s how:
Come to the library to set up a NetLibrary account. You have to physically be at the library for this part. After you set up an account, you can use any internet capable computer to access it, but it’s recommended that you choose just one computer due to license restrictions.

Next, go to and click the “My Account” link. Sign into your library account with your card number and the phone number you gave the library. Then, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the “TexShare Databases” icon.

Then, scroll down to the “Books and Literature” section and click on NetLibrary.

Click “Log In” at the top left-hand corner of the page. Log in using your NetLibrary username and password.

In the right-hand column of the page, click “eAudiobooks” or the “Browse by Subject” link right below it. You can search by title, author, subject, format, duration, language, or other options.

Note to iPod and iTunes users
Only MP3 downloads will be able to be transferred into iTunes. Before searching, set format to MP3 to make sure you are able to listen to your download.

When you decide what audio book you want to download, click on “Download this eAudiobook”. Then click on “Checkout & Download CD Quality” to start downloading.

When the downloading window pops up, click the “Save File” radio button, then press OK.

After the download is complete, move to your music playing application (Windows Media Player, iTunes, Napster, etc…) or to your MP3 player as you would any song.

You can download up to 10 audio books. They are checked out to you for 21 days from the date of the download. If you are having difficulties, check NetLibrary’s Frequently Asked Questions page; it has a lot of information available there. If you have other questions, call Melinda at 295-5899 or e-mail her at .
