March 10-16, 2013

Have you ever been unsure of what source to use if you can’t use Wikipedia?  Or wished that you had something more impressive up your sleeve than the typical Powerpoint presentation?  Or how about wanting to learn a unique skill such as binding a book?  Now is your chance!

Buda Public Library is offering tech related programs just for you.  And they are all free!  You just have to sign up and show up.  These are the programs that we are offering:

Research Made Fast & Easy:  With the end of the year in sight, maybe it is time for you to get a start on those research papers.  No worries, we are here to help!  And this class will give you a good start as to where you can find some great resources.  We will be looking at the ins and outs of TOPICsearch, a database that is offered to all patrons of Buda Public Library through the TexShare program.  Come and get a head start on those papers and maybe even impress your teachers while you’re at it.

Friday, March 15 at 5:30pm

Research Made Fast & Easy Part 2: Admit it, we all get a little scared when we hear the word “research”.  That is why, we, here at the library would like to give you some more pointers on how to make the research process a bit easier and faster for you.  We will be looking at a database called EBSCO Student Research Center and giving you some advice on how to search the database and others like it more efficiently and effectively.

Friday, March 15 at 6:30pm

Impressing with Prezi: Do you have a presentation coming up and want to do something other than a Powerpoint?  Or even just want to learn a skill that may come in handy in the future?  Come find out how to make a Prezi presentation.  If you are thinking, “what is a Prezi?”  check out the site at prezi.com. And feel free to come with questions!

Saturday, March 16 at 2:00pm

Bind Your Own: Bookbinding:  Learn how to construct your own books! All teens are welcome to this hands-on bookbinding workshop. Participants will learn one type of stitch binding to make a journal and will also complete a notebook from upcycled materials. All materials are provided and teens will take home completed projects.
